Better Chat Voice, developed by Waypoint Labs, respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your data is collected, used, and protected when using our Chrome extension.

1. Data We Collect
Better Chat Voice stores the following locally on your device only:

ElevenLabs API Key – used to authenticate your text-to-speech requests.

Voice ID – your preferred ElevenLabs voice for audio playback.

We do not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on external servers. All data remains within your browser.

2. Permissions We Use and Why
Permission	Purpose
activeTab	Enables the extension to interact with the current ChatGPT tab.
scripting	Inserts a “Read with ElevenLabs” button into ChatGPT’s interface.
storage	Saves your API key and voice preference locally for convenience.
host_permissions	Accesses chat.openai.com to read and send content to ElevenLabs.
External URL Access	Connects to https://api.elevenlabs.io/ to process text-to-speech.

We do not use or load any remote executable code or third-party scripts.

3. How We Use Your Data
Your API key and voice settings are used only to generate audio from ChatGPT responses via the ElevenLabs API. We do not access, share, or monetize your data in any way.

4. Data Sharing
This extension does **not** collect, store, or transmit any personal information.

- Your ElevenLabs API key and voice selection are stored **locally** in your browser using `chrome.storage.local`.
- Audio processing is done directly via ElevenLabs' official API.
- No usage analytics, tracking, or third-party data sharing is included or supported.

If you ever wish to clear your API key and voice selection, you may remove the extension or clear local extension storage. 

Your interaction with the ElevenLabs API is subject to ElevenLabs' privacy policy.

5. Security
We follow industry best practices to ensure your data stays secure:

All API interactions use HTTPS encryption.

Data is stored using Chrome’s secure extension storage (chrome.storage.local).

This extension is open-source and transparent by design.

We may update this policy if the extension’s functionality changes. Updates will be reflected here, with a revised effective date.
